Two up connection with the SO.
« on: August 03, 2011, 01:04:00 PM »
So I've noticed that when my wife and I go for a ride on my cb550 we really feel happy together (corny, I know) I have a lot more fun that I thought I would. She seems way more open to putzing around aimlessly then I ever thought she would. If I have an idea to stop at a coffe shop or bar for a drink she's always game. She loves riding on the back. I feel a little more connected to her and it's pretty cool.

Just wondering if anybody else feels the same way with their spouses or Significant Others? Or do guys just use the bike as an excuse to get away by themselves as much as possible. I do that too every once in a while but still have just as much fun with my honey on the back.

My wife likes to ride around with me too. Kind of the same as you described. The only argument we have is that she wants something bigger and more comfortable. I told her that one day I'll get a goldwing and that will be "her" bike. She still refuses to learn to ride a bike on her own.

kinda tough with such a tiny bike  and a big a$$ (thankfully my a$$, not hers..lol)

Yep, when she agrees to go for a ride, we both always have a good time - putzing around, running errands, breakfast runs, etc.

The only problem is she's still VERY reluctant to put our kids' parents' lives (that is - our lives) all in one risk basket like that.  When our 3 kids were young, she just flat refused to ride.  Before kids - we'd ride together whenever.  Now that our youngest is 15, she's beginning to get a little more willing to ride together again.  And when we do, we both enjoy it.  But, I've always respected her reluctance and never really pushed it.

Enjoy!

Since we've had two kids my wife and I don't get as many opportunities to go for a ride together as we used to, but I can say that on the occasions that we do she is always game for riding around aimlessly, and when we get home she's usually in a pretty good mood. ;) ;)

Exactly!!! Even after a bad day at work it's amazing how much a bike ride can change a mood.

Well, duh!     :D  :D  :D

That's why I commute by bike as often as possible!

By the time I get home, I'm always better...  :D
