1978 cb550 float height

I'm setting my float heights on a 1978 cb550 and was wondering where I measure from. The floats I have are rectangular shaped, and I'm measuring from the edge of the carb body to the float edge closest to the pivot point (14.4mm). Should I be taking the measurment at the point farthest from the pivot point?
