I know this is a worn out subject, but it's driving me nuts. I've read the FAQ's, done the searches, and I'm still having problems. Here's the deal. After my 350f runs the carbs down a ways on gas for whatever reason, running to reserve or just sitting for a few days with the gas evaporating out, when I turn it back on, I have gas flowing from the overflows. Sometimes one, two three, etc. Then I have to tap on the bowls with something to get them shut off. Never happens when riding or stopped after a ride with the carbs full. Someone here said the needle valves cock against the float tang when low and won't shut. I've done everything I can think of. I've polished the float pins, needles and seats, polished the tang on the floats where it contacts the needle. I've made sure the floats aren't binding against the carb bodies. Float height is correct. The floats move freely, no binding at the hinge whatsoever. I don't think I've got a peice of gunk anywhere because they work just fine till the next time the carbs get low. The only thing I can think of trying is maybe run 1/2 rate of 2 cycle oil in the gas to lube them a bit. BTW these are from a K&L kit. Maybe that's the problem. Another idea I had was to come up with some sort of stop inside so the floats wouldn't go low enough to cock the needles but would still flow gas, which would be a bunch of trial and error BS. Any other ideas would sure be appreciated.
