Emgo Ignition Switch on CB550
« on: August 17, 2011, 12:18:14 PM »
Hey,
Rookie mistake, ordered a part because the manufacturer said it would fit....lol. measure twice, cut once.

I bought this Emgo key for my 76 CB550F, but it has the wrong end. female instead of male, and 4 plugs instead of 6. has anyone bought this? what are my options?

thanks

that is for  a 74 550 and they are too light weight they wont take the amps of repeated starting they require one of hondamans relay kits or they will have a short life

I don't know what the extra wires do on the 76 but I would think your options are trade with someone on the forum that has the right switch for your bike and can use the switch you have or sell it on ebay  or simply return it but you could ask two tired since he has a lot of these 550's it is also possible  I am wrong but I am pretty sure my 74 550 only has 4 wires on the ignition switch
