When the mighty winds drop a free bike in your yard, don't ask questions, just stand it up and ride!

I like to think it was just tired after all those miles and decided to lay down for a nap. It was on the centerstand. I thought about putting it in the driveway but i'f rather it fall in the grass.

Here's hoping there's no damage to the bike... and that you were nearly out of fuel, 'cause it will leak out the overflow... the cap vent.

Everything looks good. Haven't checked the gas or oil yet but it definitely smelled like gas. Lots of fun picking that beast up in wet grass.

Check for evidence of corrosive electrolyte leaking out of the battery onto sensitive areas, flush well with water if found.  If you did lose electrolyte this way, you would need to top off with acid, not just distilled water.

If there's any chance that oil may have leaked past the rings of the "low-side" cylinder into the combustion chamber, you may want to pull that plug before you turn the engine over to prevent "hydraulic lock".  Good luck with it.

I think it has been flushed well with water!

I just squeezed my new CB750 into the shed before the storm. Shed is in one piece, so I guess the bike is ok.

Ps. I want to thank the State of North Carolina for stalling and moving Irene more westerly saving Long Island from a direct hit.

Wouldn't start. Pulled the plugs and the two "lowside" ones were definitely fouled w/ oil. Replaced them and she fired up after a bit of coaxing. Seems like there must've been water in the carbs. Also, she's not charging properly. I suspect i lost some electrolyte although I haven't pulled the battery yet. Just dropped her off for a 530 chain and sprockets at the local shop. I put about 90 miles on today riding up to Reading, PA for some new "Red Wing" logger/lineman boots(I figured they must be the best thing for riding a Honda) and everything ran perfectly but starting w/ the starter is a bit sluggish still.

Yeah, its kinda stupid because I actually replaced chain and sprockets on that new F I picked up right before I left. it's just quietly sitting in storage while I now pay extra to have someone else do it for me on my "touring" bike. I never claimed to be the sharpest tool in the shed!

If you have a voltage meter, check the voltage with bike not running.  Turn on headlight, do not start motor, wait for two minutes, turn off headlight and check voltage again.  If it drops significantly from first reading, your battery is suspect.  Laying on it's side like that could definitely drain the electrolyte.  Have you checked to see if water level is low?  Top off with distilled water if not too low, put it on a battery tender, then repeat the battery check.  A fully charged battery should show 12.8 volts or more, not running, after headlight on, and checking again it could drop into the 11 volt range, and that would show weak battery condition.  I would want to make sure my battery was in excellent condition before doing any long range riding.  Take into consideration the age of your battery , and replace it if there is any question in your mind.  It's the heart of your bike, keep it healthy!
