How to clean gasket surface on this hard-to-reach area?

'71 CB500
The cover was off when I started this rebuild. You can see that there's some gasket material still on there. That space is really narrow though. Any suggestions as to how to get it off?

I use an exacto knife with a chisle tip for that kind of stuff.

Aircraft paint stripper will release the bond and it will pop right off without fear of mechanical abrasion associated with scrapers.

removing the clutch basket gives you a better angle at it aswell,de glaze the steels at the same time maybe.

I'm with Dave, might as well check/replace/repair clutch while you have the cover off

there should be two locating dowels for the cover and a steel washer that goes over the kick shaft and bears against the inside of the case.
