Barn find goes live!
« on: September 05, 2011, 07:12:01 PM »
After 30 years sitting in a barn, this baby finally had the fires lit. I to it for it's first check ride. There is still some sorting out to do, but is is ALIVE.

It is almost totally stock except for the header muffler combo that I borrowed from a friend to get it going. Any help with an exhaust solution would be welcome. I am open to stock, 4:1 2X2:1.

Looks great with the OEM paint and all. If you want to keep it looking stock you can still get the OEM HM341's 4into4 from Honda. Cost will be around $900 or so, but you can imagine how it would make that bike look like a blast from the past. Nice work on it. Another saved!!! ;D

A true barn find, that's great. How did you find this gem? Do you know much history on the bike? Was it near by or miles away? That just goes to show you, these bikes are still out there. Way to go cooljerk ;)

Wow, it was probably ridden for 5 years until some simple problem put it in the shed.  What a waste of time for the ol' girl.

The bike has 12,000 miles on the clock. The pistons were seized. It appears as if the previous owner tried to do some simple trouble shooting by taking external bits off the bike like engine covers and exhaust. Several parts were missing as you can see from the photos. It was left in a horse stall.
The engine covers were given a glass bead blasting. Fortunate for me, a buddy has an awesome shop in his garage, including the glass bead blaster.

Nice job! Perhaps you could post the plans and measurements of that great engine stand too please? Thanks, Cliff.
