Spark plug cap ohm question
« on: September 12, 2011, 09:38:23 AM »
On my CB750K7, should I have 5ohm plug caps or 10ohm? Im running non-resistor type of spark plugs. I tested the caps that are on the bike now and all but one read in the 9.5ohm range. One read at 11.5ohms, so I replaced that cap with a good one I had laying around. Im going to just replace them all with new ones, but just curious on which I should get, 5 or 10ohm?

You sure you don't mean 5K Ohms and 10 Kohms? Big difference.

I think stock on the 750's were 10KOhms, 11 or 9.5 is not that far off. I am not sure what the replacement tolerance is for these caps though. TT would probably have a better idea.

I have read that Honda used 5K caps on everything until the mid ninety's. The one's on my CB350F were reading around 12K with one at 52K. It runs much better with the new 5K caps.

The 550s had 10K from factory.
CB750s were 5K ohm. Possibly there were exceptions.
