1967 Honda P50
« on: September 13, 2011, 04:36:44 PM »
Hello all
I've had this '67 Honda P50 for several years now. It is completely original except for the mirrors. It was saved from a city dump in the same shape it's in now. The only thing it needed to make it run was a piece of hose to replace the intake pipe connector. Other than that all I did was check the valve clearance and points which did not need any adjustments. The gas tank and float bowl were clean so I put fresh gas in it and it lit right up. I run around town on it all the time at a hot 25mph.

After a friend of mine saw this blue bike he said "I've got a red one of those in my garage. Do you want it?"I said yes and this is what I got.

It was a lot rougher  than the blue one and needed some internal engine work. The drive mechanism on these is a series of three sets of chains and sprockets and the final driven sprocket on this one was stripped.

After I replaced that and did a lot of clean-up it turned out to be a good dependable little bike.

They don't go fast but they are still a lot of fun.
Bob

Eric, the bikes don't have odometers so I can't be exact on the mileage but I'm sure it's around 100mpg, or more if you like to pedal.

The red bike is my wife's. Here is a video of the only time she has ridden it, so far.

Boy does that bring back memories.  They were great for a paper route. Sooo quiet @ 5am you could ride right up to the front door and no one would know you were there.   Good on you for keeping those old timers running.
