Front Brake CB750
« on: May 15, 2006, 05:50:47 AM »
Its seized at both the master and slave cylinder from disuse and corrosion.

How to clean it up and pull apart?

I was thinking soaking in solvent but didn't want to ruin anything, what is the best solvent?

How do you get that puck out of the slave cylinder??

Is the listed brake fluid (strange J-number) all that different from the automotive dot 3 brake fluid??

To clean out dirty and probably dried fluid in the brake system, you need to use denatured alcohol, which you can buy at the hardware store or Home Depot. It is actually what dried out of the fluid to begin with. Don't get it on the paint. Taking the master cylinder apart involves removing a spring clip under the banjo bolt. You will find tons of advice on removing stuck brake pucks in the FAQ. One trick should work for you.
