Anyone using this Ebay Cafe Seat
« on: May 16, 2006, 07:37:25 AM »
I was outbid by 1 dollar and just recieved a second chance for this seat.  With alittle work I think it would look pretty good on my 550.   I really like the tail section area of it and would probably reglass the bottom so it fits on the frame rails better.

Just wondering everyones thoughts before I used the second chance deal.

Make sure that the offer comes from the seller before sending any money.  Standard eBay rip off over here as you get an email  offer from a scammer.

I had an email from a failed bidder on one of my auctions asking if the "second chance offer" was real.  Of course I had not sent any offer - the scammer just sends loads of emails to failed bidders and hopes that 1 in 100 sends him money before eBay notice and cancel his account.

Just a warning.

Seat looks good by the way - hope you have the fabrication skills!

Tail section looks alittle long for mytaste, but if you get it cheap enough you can hack/change/modify at your will..

Go for it... ;D

I think this is the same seat mounted on a 400.

Looks good on that 400.   And yes the fiberglass skills are there from many years of repairing surfboards.  I'm going to double check with the seller to ensure its legit.

Man, I'm upset.  I just got the seat yesterday and mocked it up.  Its about 4" too short and leaves a 4" gap between seat and tank and is about 2" too narrow.  Without cutting and re-glassing it there is no way it would work.  Looks really good though.  Back to ebay.  I may look into just making one as I think that will fit the best.  I maybe the hotwing seat from Ebay that zeke has on his 750.

Can't tell for sure that it won't fit the 500, frame maybe alittle different.  Hope it fits for you.  The seat is actually very nice...

That is one fine looking seat! I like the shape and the cushion looks good also. Makes me wonder what it'd look like on a trimmed early 70's CB450 frame. Hope you can get it worked out to do what you need.

Why don't you put the seat up to the back of the tank, and hack off the "extra" frame behind the back of the seat ?
This way, the bike would look "tighter", and your golden seat would be of value/use to you.

Just an idea...

The main issue is that if I put the seat up next to the tank I would be super cramped up on the bike and basically almost sitting on the tank :)

Just sold it on Ebay today.  Basically just got my money back for what I paid for it.  I think I'm going to just make one from the extra seat that I have laying around.  This way I'll know it will fit and will use the existing mount points..

Or maybe fiberglass a seat cowl similar to a Bonneville/Thruxton:  example below :)

Hey, I had one of those back in the 70's. Neat little bike, good runner and looked like a
smaller version of the 250/250. Got it from my brother-in-law who upgraded to a New metallic
Green Cb350G that he put a Hooker 2into1 w/ a reversecone megaphone. I tried to get that
bike when he moved up to a used 63' Impala Super Sport but, no luck.  Later on, Bill
