Petcock / standpipe question w/pic
« on: December 04, 2011, 08:55:42 AM »
1976 CB550K.  Found my standpipe laying in my tank.  Question:

How do they attach to the petcock?  Can I assume that it's broken?  Or...do they "slip" on and off?

Never mind  :-[

removed the petcock and found that it did break off.  Just ordered my NOS screen kit.

Cheers

yeah, that's not the standpipe anyway, its just the sock.. you probably could've shoved it back on .

The 76 (and 75) models combined the standpipe and filter sock into one unit.  The 77-78 models had separate parts for those functions.

Not highjacking, but since the 77-78 you cant even order the replacement of the discontinued petcock, can one still order the filter?

The 78 has rivets. you have to drill them out. I am actually in the process of doing this and will post it tomorrow. I was able to order a new gasket with the help of the members here. But still in need of the filter.
