Which year k or f engines will fit in a 78 F frame?
« on: November 21, 2011, 05:32:53 PM »
i have a 78 CB750 F supersport with a blown engine now (really long story) and am looking at replacing the engine and wondering what potential options i can look towards as the 77/78 F engines are little harder to come by and not as desirable due to head problems (don't ask me how i know this)...any help is appreciated
thx
Tony

77 or 78 k motor. They don't have the valve issues.

Any sohc engine  should fit. Even a sandcast if you can find one. Output shaft length is different if i recall.

Any but the 750A. 77/78 K and F use a 630 chain while the others use a 530 but that can be taken care of.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

I also think that use of any engine up to 76 will require you to also get the carrier for that year bike to get the right chain line.
