I can't stop thinking about how this bike would look with a nice set of Morris wheels...

Were you able to machine the hubs? I thought your build has a modern fork set up?

Drool! Your build is great and I am learning a lot thanks!

Is that a heavily modded Ducati you have shown or is that from the factory? Sorry if another dumb question

Bit of both - it's the Paul Smart SportClassic, limited edition with a lot of goodies from the factory.

My wife's trying to talk me into getting a Sport1000.

Not trying to hijack. So the hub is a direct fit for those forks? Rim as well? If so please provide the year of the front end and actual bike that comes on the ducati

That's just a pic from google, nothing is going to be a direct fit...... I'll machine new axels or whatever needs to be done. The problem is finding a hub that will take dual discs... The sport 1000 wheels are worth a pretty penny used...

How much is a pretty penny worth? Ha ha, why not just lace CB750 hubs into those rims mate and make adapters for some better discs? Here's a pic of my K2 with FZR1000 forks, calipers and discs. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

No mate, there are pictures scattered throughout the forums, but no "how to" thread, because I didn't build them. Pretty simple though, Honda front hub with disc and speedo drive spacers, FZR axle, and custom triples to replicate the CB750's original geometry.

Don't be tempted to use the stock triples from any modern sportsbikes on one of our bikes, the geometry is all wrong, the rake is way too steep, and it'll "tuck in" in corners, spitting you down the road. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Do you want dual discs for looks?

Because I'm pretty sure you don't need 'em for braking power on one of these bikes.

Remind me again what forks you're running?

This is none of my business, and you're doing a great project overall here, but I implore you to think seriously about changing up to an RSU fork with proper cartridge damping instead of those things with the anti-dive plumbing.  The irony is that the original forks from the 70's look less dated than the not-thought-through anti-dive stuff.

You could sell off the forks you have now for maybe $100 and pick up some nice F2 forks for $200.  For an additional $100 outlay, you could transform the character of the bike for the better, and make a non-trivial improvement to the looks.  If you're going to go to all the work of fabbing up a custom axle, bushings, spacers etc. to fit the front wheel, why not fit it to something that's actually good instead of something you just happened to have lying around the garage?

Or, for a super-classy touch, if you decided you could live with a single brake, you could go with these forks - which to me seem like the perfect item for a vintage/classy Honducati. :)

Your 100% right, I'm going to finish the bike as it is. Once it's done I'll start looking for a better wheel/fork/brake combo. I used these forks because I had them. At this point I do have some time in the machine work for the triples and the stem swap. I really want to run spoked wheels with black rims.....

I had those anti dive forks on my GSXR1100J {1988}, 10 times better than the stock Honda forks.   Upside down forks don't suit the style of these old bikes IMO. I am using 1989 GSXR1100 cartridge forks and they are right side up and have 43mm staunchions, they are cheap to buy in the states, i have a set waiting to be shipped here from California {paid under 200 with clamps and fork brace}, that will be my second set of these forks, i have read that they are a popular mod in some countries for period racing.

I agree that USD's don't look right on these bikes, which is why I suggested RSU's.  By F2 forks, I meant a CBR600F2, which would not look out of place.

Good cartridge forks = happiness. :)

Those wheels are gonna look amazing.

I might have to buy those Marzocchi's just to re-sell 'em to you for your project when you're ready for another round of improvements. ;)

I'm assuming that they're cartridge internals, but I could be wrong, they might be a crappy damping rod setup.
