Thanks 70CB750,

Here is an example of what i was working with (first pic). The coils despite how they look, were actaully fine. It was the leads and caps that were letting me down. I was contemplating just getting new leads and caps and drilling into the coils, doing a tight solder job, then JBWeld up the holes. All this to save cost as usual. I probably would have gotten away with this and general points maintenance, but i decided to bite the bullet and just do the whole lot. In the end, i think if your wanting to keep the bike, the cost will wash out anyhow over time.

The 2nd pic looks a bit nicer with the new coils installed. My bike came out of a wrecking yard and was a case of all sorts. I think my bike was used to make other CB750 better. After a very slow resto project of ~5yrs on and off (mostly off) with the first 3 of that sourcing parts at a slow rate, things are coming together and a roadworthy certificate should be in order very soon.

Ajk,

I am always impressed with the resourcefulness of Australians and your mod is an example of that. I once sold a system to an Australian for his CB400F which uses the same plate as a CB750 but the rotor has a smaller inside diameter. We accidentally shipped him the rotor for the CB750. He alerted me to that and I immediately sent him the correct rotor for his CB400F, but in the meantime he had a sleeve made at a local machine shop that enabled him to use the CB750 rotor! That enabled him to ride the bike while awaiting the replacement rotor, which as you know, can take weeks to arrive.

So, what's the expression? "Good on you mate!"

Pete
PS: I added the note about the pin in the instructions linked from CB750 supply.
