My condolences.  WWII vets were a rare breed of exceptional men, every time I get a chance I go out of my way to speak with one and to thank them for  their time in service...Larry

I'm sorry to hear about you grandfather. World war 2 vets are truly heros.
I've done a lot of things in my life that I'm not proud of...and the things I AM proud of, "are disgusting"

It’s always sad news to hear the loss of a veteran, especially when it’s one of your own.

Fair winds and following seas to your Grandfather.

My dad was at Leyte Gulf and the Canal.  Maybe they passed each other keeping us free.  My condolences.  RIP Swabby

When Tom Brokaw released Greatest Generation we were loosing 1,000 wwii vets a day. Now the curve is at  about 750/day from what I hear.

I have attended my father's 12th AD reunions for 15 years, two since he passed. His group the C-17 has lost several regular attendees  in the last two years, and the 63rd (gentleman's rivalry) had someone pay for all their family  legacy members to travel to Abiline to attend so c-17 may be behind in attendance.

Find his unit and see if they have reunions. It is living history readily available still, hopefully  for another decade or so.
