Hello to All.
This site has been an inspiration for me, leading to a purchase of a new (to me) '78 CB550 from a forum member. I haven't even taken delivery of it yet, so no pics. It's been recently rebuilt and slightly modified as a "racer," with only about 4000 miles since the rebuild - 21,000 total. I also have been compling a separate '78 CB550 frame and misc. parts for a frame up restoration of a 2nd bike. The plan is to ride the new complete bike 'til the frame-up rebuild is finished. I've already imposed upon Hondaman via a couple PMs for a bit of technical advice on frame geometry. He is unbelieveably well informed and a wealth of knowledge.
I live in a rural mountainous area very popular for weekend racers. If you are familiar with the San Diego area, I live off Highway 78E with easy access to Julian and Mt. Palomar - lots of twistys. My focus on my builds will be suspension and vintage handling performance.
Not new to CBs, but I haven't owned a SOHC4 since the late seventies when I acquired a new '77 CB400/4 which I sold in the early 80s. Obviously, no internet or forums then. I currently own an original '72 CB450 DOHC which has been in the family since rolling off the dealer's show room floor. I always intend to keep this bike and keep it as original as possible. My other bikes have included a RD350 and only briefly, a '75 CB750 and a V-Rod.
I look forward to learning and sharing my build progress and process.
Cheers!
