Topic: Using USD in Niagra Falls, Canada

On my next visit to the US in September I am hoping to visit Niagra Falls in Canada, I have been told I can use my USD rather than buy Canadian currency, can anyone confirm this for me. Also if anyone from the area can recommend hotels or other visits that would be good.

I've used USD a few times in Toronto, but generally use my CC for everything. I dont know how common it is, though.  The rates are so close you wont really lose much.  At the Niagara border on the CA side, I noticed an exchange that goes by bank rate. its at the beginning of the bridge, sort of part of the bridge.

 I use a 'Currency Card' which is a Mastercard, I put on GBP which are immediately converted to USD at a very good exchange rate, I have UK Bank and Credit cards but rarely use them because of the charges. If I buy CAD the rate wouldn't be as good and would need to convert unused back to USD later, we will probably only be there a couple of days at most.

Most of stores on the Canada and US sides take each others money at par. But the more you use your credit card the better. You get the best rate of exchange. If you like a indoor water park, there's one around the falls that also has a hotel. Seneca casino has a nice hotel. While your away from your lock everything in your trunk, DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN PLAIN SIGHT!!!. It will walk away. Take any valuables with you!

Thanks Bob, I plan on crossing at Buffalo will be traveling from Cleveland.
Using my UK cards is usually costly that is why I use the Currency Card, I can can put money on it at a known good exchange rate, change to notes/coins for little or nothing and buy goods for the cost on the ticket.
Security is something I am aware of here in the UK, my daughter has become much less so since she moved to the US. She has lived in Miami, rural NJ and now a suburb of Cleveland and the things which I have seen left unsecured amazes me, I once saw a driver get out of his pickup truck in NJ by a busy road leave the engine running go into a store to buy some things, in the same town a motorcycle shop owner had a frame sat in the flatbed of an old truck outside for months.
I may take you up on that call, always happy to speak to other Honda enthusiasts.

Ok seaninc you are close to where I am talking about, Sussex, been to Sparta many times  I was disappointed when my daughter moved.
My CL175 originated from Hopatcong too, tried to contact the owner on the title but he never got back to me.

US currency can be used anywhere in Canada.
You won't have any issues at all.
My tourist suggestion is to avoid the under falls exhibit.
