We got a good solid crew building. 400's, 500's, 550's and 750's so far. Awesome.

I'm looking at an 81 650 this weekend! My bud has a sweet cafe'd 350 four... I'm not sure he's ready to ride, though, due to insurance/license...

Skylar, btw it's me, Steve, with the old silver CRX...

CES,
Closer to the Sparta Area. I work in G.R though. Dang we live so close that we have probably passed each other at some point in time. I ride to work every day. I come down the beltline quite often, almost everyday.

In Ann Arbor. Just picked up a decent 400F, and just got my bike permit again after years of being a non-rider. (Rode in college—a CB360T—but haven't since.) I'd definitely be up for rides, beer, hangouts, and whatnot...

Ha! I wish. Rolled the bike into the garage after that last ride, wiped it off, and have been snowed under with work ever since. Gonna try and take a look at it tonight/Saturday morning. :)

Sounds like there's a pretty decent group of bikes around—cool!

ok, so a couple of guys on the west side, several in the metro detriot/ann arbor area, one a little north, one lone yooper and lakeboi in jackson, which seems to be, more or less, the midpoint.

any ideas on location?
lakeboi, there anything good near you?

the hell idea isn't bad, i was out there a few years ago and there's some decent roads through the pinckney area.
anyone from ann arbor got any ideas around there?

Hmm...can't think of any of the routes point-by-point off the top of my head, but most of the stuff we use for work is around the towns of Gregory, Unadilla, and fanning out from North Territorial/Hadley road. There's always the possibility of digging up Car and Driver's 10 Best loop, as well...not too far away from Ann Arbor, and relatively twisty/isolated stuff, from what I understand.

News flash! I just got an email from none other than Glenn Stauffer saying that there are 117 SOHC4 members in Michigan (10 in Ann Arbor!). He offered to send them all emails telling them what we're trying to do! This is great! Thanks Glenn! There are a lot more W. Michiganders than I thought!

Why don't we keep ride suggestions and dates here on the string (so my mailbox doesn't fill up)...I think the idea of the mailing list is so people can be reached with activities even if they aren't on SOHC. If anybody has an activity in their area, they can email everybody on the list.

This from Chris Morgan via email:
got it
i vote mid to late september
the weekend of the 16th or 23rd.

I think that sounds good...any later and it will start getting cold. I'm up for going anywhere you guys want to go.

 Hey CES,
I know exactly where Richmond park is. My wife used to go there in the winter to go sleding when she was a young girl. I have probably been right by your place several times. Sometimes I go down Alpine and cut over on Leonard and then onto the beltline to get to work. I knew there were other sohc people around, just had to find them is all.
So what do you think of the riding in this area?
Cheers
Bruce

I really like the riding over here. Have you taken Leonard out to Lake Michigan? It's only a half an hour, but there are twists and turns, Farms, trees, little towns, and it runs right along the Grand River all the way to Spring Lake. I've also gone up past Grattan to Hardy Dam, then over to Pentwater, down past Silver Lake, then down along the lakeshore, and then back on Leonard...a long ride for me, but really nice.
I ride a lot out by Canonsburg and Lowel, then back through Ada. I also really like taking Division south to Plainwell, then over to Richland, past Gull Lake and back up through Middleville and Caledonia.
It would be a blast to get everybody over here to ride in our stomping grounds, but because there are so many more people on the east side of the state, I think we may have to go over there initially.
I'd love to get this thing organized enough to, say, if we were going to an antique bike meet in Ohio, we could have meeting times and pick people up along the way, so when we get there, we have a huge group! Of course, they'd have to do the same thing when they come over here!

Not if we don't arrive at a date and route! Let's not let this drop. So far, we have a suggestion for either the weekend of the 16th or the 23rd. Any more? Any routes?
Send me email addresses...so far, I have 8. Hopefully soon there will be more.. I want this to be rolling by next summer...SOHC4-Michigan..hey we could wear colors!

 Ces,
I like the idea of a SOHC4 - Mighigan. That would be great to get a whole bunch of us together to represent at like you said "Ohio Antique Bike Meet".  Could you imagine a big group of SHOC4's all riding in a group. I wonder what a whole bunch of SOHC4's would sound like.

I'm in Macomb and if a certain title officer in Lansing would quit foolin around, I'd have a plate and be riding my 550 right now!  Don't ever lose an out-of-state title and try to get one re-issued in MI.  :(

Ok, my vote's for the 16th or the 23! Let's find a place!
Jimmy! I'm in GR. Send me your email address! Over your way is one of my main rides! What are you doing this weekend? My parents live in Spring Lake, and I may pop in for a visit. I could stop in with you too!
Everybody else: Get emails to me if you want to be in on the mailing list. The intent is that we can contact other riders like I just did Jimmy, without having to go through this blog.

I'm wasting a week travelling for work....should be home putting my 500 back together.  Go ahead and plan something for one of those two weekends and I'll try to get her put back together before then.  If it works out, I might be inclined to stay close to home (Ann Arbor area would work) since it would be right after a rebuild!

Let me know!

I'd be up for a gathering around Ann Arbor....
