Norwegian Newbie
« on: December 16, 2013, 02:39:05 PM »
Hello from Norway

In my search for information about my new motorcycle I have stumbled across this excellent forum. My limited ability to control my impulses have resulted in yet another motorcycle; an early 70ties Honda 350 four race bike. The idea is that I shall have it ready for the coming race season, but this plan is not very realistic given that I have lots of other projects, an active hunting dog eagerly awaiting skiing season and a 5 month old son commanding all my attention.

The bike has been raced in the 500 class with a set of 460 pistons, a Yoshimura cam and a flowed head, but the son of the previous owner, being used to modern race bikes, overrevved it resulting in an open block con rod failure. I plan to build a fast 350 to race in the 350 class and later do a 466 engine for the 500 class if my abilities and balls allow. I realise that the 350 four will never be a match for the much more popular 350 twins, but as a complete amateur I have managed to convince myself that I am only racing agains myself.

In addition to the 350 Honda I have some bikes I ride during the short Norwegian season:
1980 Moto Guzzi 850 T3 California (ridden all across Europe over the last 22 years)
1976 Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans
1974 Moto Morini 3 1/2 Sport (with which I participated in Motogiro d'Italia 2012)
1978 Moto Guzzi roadster/cafe racer based on 1000 SP
19?? Royal Enfield 500 Bullett (bought in New Delhi and ridden to Trondheim, Norway, as a young, stupid student. Currently being converted into a trials/scrambler)
1969 Suzuki T500
1998 KTM 640 Adventure
1990 Honda GB500 Clubman (the only other bike that fits in on this forum)

Pictures of the Honda race bike will follow.

Best regards from cold, rainy Norway
Morini

Welcome Morini, that's a pretty awesome garage & the 350 sounds unique.  Love those MGs you've got, beautiful bikes too, and then the GB500!  You are living right, my friend!
