« on: December 29, 2014, 08:27:40 AM »
Hi all
Wonder if anyone can take a photo or give me information on standard colour finish? Of there Upper triple tree and indicator light holder CB750 K2. As I want to restore mine to factory standard.
Thanks.

The factory manual mentions a dull black for the gauges and indicator lights somewhere in the additional/supplemental pages at the end. For powder coating, the closest would be 55% Semi Gloss Paccar Black. For a rattle can, Rustoleum Semi Gloss Black comes close.

Also can someone confirm that a K2 should have the flash and Nuet, black/silver decal and not the turn neutral, coloured one?

Depends on the VIN, early ones had the Flash Neut (most made in 71 did) and later ones have the K3 wording.

Also depends on the country. The one in the picture is a UK CB750K2, 1972.

There is no "colored" plate; all of them were black/silver to begin with - they just fade to a brownish color with age.

The image was originally "Japanned" onto a brushed aluminum plate; over time, the outer image fades more than the stuff down in the "brushed" cracks, leading some to believe that the plates were issued in a "wood grain" pattern... if only!   ::)
