That one part is the vacuum shut off.  Plug the vacuum and remove it.   Looks like the fuel line has already been bypassed.

Kinda my thoughts , so there is only one vac line ? plug it off and I don't need the auto fuel valve? I read in the clymers that if its bad you have to replace it you can not rebuild it .
so I guess bypassing would be the cheapest was around it.
Thanks
Pete

For now that's what I will do . I think I am going to need new coils. Put the oms meter to them , I get a reading of around 4 which I was told they should be between 3 and 5 but on the plug wire side I get nothing which is suppose to be bad. The leads ends on my meter are not long enough to get inside the  coil on the plug wire side good so I am going to remove them this weekend and try to get a  reading .

I am thinking that it may be plug wires .I am going to pull the  coils so I can get a good oms reading on the bench. Then I will try to  get a arc off the plug . Not going to do any thing until Saturday. I  have a line on a few Tail lens just can't make up my mind which one to go with. I also trying to get my priorities in order I have been jumping around to much. Going to start on getting this thing running some what before going on .

Thanks that's great! I am going to compile a list of things I need I just noticed on the carbs  that the t joints are missing  no wonder that the gas just ran out. I will let you know and if you have them great I am sure we can make a deal.

Those joints are most likely the "T" vents.  I dont know if they are avail from honda anymore.  I did get some many years ago.  But also "built" some too.   Threads on the 650 site about it.  Think a couple here too.

today was a fun day. I got a new battery and  got the parts to make vent tees for my carbs.
I put the battery in and turn it on.well the starter spun but the motor didn't.Thinking that I have to check out the starter clutch. I think the  OP told me when I got the bike that he had done that but he also told me all I needed was a battery to fire it up .I can't seem to get power to the coils I put the meter on them when i push the starter button ,I don't get a reading maybe I am doing something wrong not sure Here are the vent I made  need to trim them down and thinking about putting rtv around them to seal them up for sure.

dont use rtv   use holomar.  I think thats how its spelled.   rtv wont hold up to gas but the other will.  it is a permatex product.

To late I put the red on. I had some of it, it's for gaskets and says it flexible so for now we'll see how it holds up

I haven't done much the last few day . I did clean out the shed, I can get  the bike in and out easily now .
Today I pulled the starter to make sure it is turning. and it is nice and quite too. I can put my finger in the starter hole and turn the gear very easy Not sure what that means but I am going to pull the starter clutch out this week end . found a old thread form Ouch " the devoricer" He pics have helped a lot to figure out what I have to do . Also  been watching Hack a week a lot and I am learning quite a bit and getting the confidence to do this work. Up to now the most motor work I have done is adj the valves and synic the carbs .

My only concern is the small crack under the oil filter cover got pic , please let me know if you think I have a major problem

I had a fun day. it took most of the day to get the lock nut off the clutch. I could not get that bugger off.
Gave up on it for a while clean one of the front caliper want back at the clutch got frustrated posted on the board for help watch a Bill Murry movie from netflex . Want back at it,thinking that I was turning it the wrong way tried it and felt it get tighter want back the other way and it broke free. Pulled the clutch and then the shaft for the starter clutch Now I have to get the thorax screws out . they don't  seem to line up but I sure it will get sooner or later more likely later

I just ordered the parts form Partzilla along with a Masters cylinder rebuild kit , I got to get a carb rebuild kit yet. waiting for my JIS screwdriver to come in before I mess with the carbs.  So far I am pleased with the progress going slow .

Started to do the starter clutch today,Ran in a big snag. I managed to lose the
dowel pin . After not being able to find it move on to the Master cyclinder. Rebuild that with no problems. Now I have the lower brake line plug posted that story on the other thread looking for help I do want to keep them if all possible. Now I am waiting for parts again . One good thing is it had dawn on me how that starter clutch works really couldn't figure it out until I started putting it back together ,learn something new every day if your lucky

Today I got oil pan on oil in New spark plug wires and caps. Now I have spark That's a relief.
Got to put those t vents on the carbs put it back and see if I can get it to run and go from there.
