DP295 and 836 pistons

I know the recommendations for the DP295 cam are that the pistons have valve reliefs.  I'm wondering if anyone has actually mocked this cam up with the ebay pistons to check clearance.  I'm using the ebay pistons which, of course, have no valve reliefs and I'd be interested in trying out the DP295 if possible.  Cheers!

If you are using the big cam, why use low compression pistons..?

750 Bitsa 900cc
If You can't fix it with a hammer, You've got an electrical problem.

Yes, I understand that, my question is, why put a performance cam with stock compression pistons.? Why not go the extra couple of hundred and use weisco 836 pistons {10.25 to 1}, so the cam can do its intended job properly... ;)

This could mean there are clearance problems with stock type pistons

DP295 ....

"Street cam, smooth with good idle and torque. Plenty of top end, quiet operation; exceptional for street or touring. Ideal for up to 915cc engines. Requires high performance pistons."

Interesting.  Makes me wonder what cam that would've been.

 I looked over my notes from that project and the problem was using oversize intake valves.....not the cam. I apologize for that. Still the reliefs are shallow but something like a 41 Web cam should be OK.

Ahh okay, thanks for the clarification.  Yeah the cams like the 41, 41a, etc certainly aren't excessive.  My custom cam is similar in lift but a bit more suited for low end torque.

The reason I ask is because I have very little faith in cam companies' advertised numbers.  The descriptions are very basic for understandable marketing reasons.  But when it really comes down to real world practical applications, things can vary substantially.  Just thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone had possibly given it a go with the 295 and the ebay pistons, just to see if they are close and possibly how much they may have had to take out of the present valve reliefs.  If I had all the bits available to me right now I'd check it out myself.  Was worth an ask anyhow.  Cheers!
