 I always find it amusing when people are new to a forum, and do this...
 Join up , ask for advice, then try to set up guidelines  regarding how we are allowed to respond to them.. don't bother  if you reply like  this, or like so...  yeah alright..
 Just don't wonder when people stop answering your questions..

I can see how someone could become jaded by all the other online forums and expect harsh treatment right off the bat, but I agree it's not really the best way to start off a post asking for help.  It's a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy.  You get what you give, and someone who's the type of person to give you a hard time just for asking a question isn't the type of person who's going to listen when you tell them not to.

One thing I've noticed lately is noobs asking for advice, then giving advice to other noobs.

As a newb, I am guilty of all of this. In defense of us newbs, it's pretty intimidating to post something in a forum filled with experts who probably shook Mr. Honda's hand at the CB750 introduction in 1969.  I definitely think twice before moving my quivering mouse pointer to the "new post" button.

If nothing else, we provide entertainment for the locals.

jeff d, the fact that you feel intimidated means that you, at least, might listen to a correct answer...not that I necessarily have any for you.  And, if you listen, you might learn some things.  So, not so guilty after all.

Even old timers take the bait on oil threads.  I won't do that here.  Besides, I only use sesame seed oil which is natural therefore the best.

I've noticed over the years when a noob asked a question certain members (some who haven't been around here for a while) would jump all over them with responses like, "Go back and read the FAQ's" and grill them for no other reason than to establish their self esteem, when it was just as easy to answer the question.

Whenever I join a new forum I explain that while I might be new to that particular marque, I'm not new to motorcycles, so basically, don't give me any crap, unless you're ready to get some back. I did get kicked off one forum, but it was no loss, it was way to "cliquey" for my liking, and the mod who took umbrage to my returning fire was as dumb as dogsh1t anyway.....
