  I did get a Shinko podium 140/80-18 not for the drag bike, it will go on the 18x3 lester with probably a conti radial in front since Shinko doesn't have anything I want for the front.

hey Don,

Metzeler makes a few tires in 18 inch that are a race compound.  here is a picture of a 150/65 on a 3.5x18 inch DID rim.

Did you ever find your Z rated drag tire…
GoodYear has one out now rated for really high speed
Thinking rated for 300+. Only comes in 16inch for now..😩

 I went ahead and bought the 140x18" V rated Shinko radial podium for the road/speed bike. That's for the venue that got cancelled. I'm thinking the turbo bike will get the 16" shinko drag tire made for the Harley drag bikes. 
   That's a bit down the road. I'm building an F1 and collecting K0 parts for one to sell. The K0 motor is stacked up parts and I'm working on making it a roller. I'm going to need a couple $K's for CycleX .

How close is the 140 to the chain/chain guard ?
My 130/17 Metzler run close to the F1’s original chrome chain guard,
but it’s never touch it…I’ve seen aftermarket and stock chain guards with the backs
modified or cut out when running wider tires..

  I watched a little online action of the ECTA mile races today in Arkansas. They were running the half mile due to wind. It appears they run the half mile the first day normally. Lots of 150 to 170 mph cars. I didn't see any bikes.

       I've read the 140 x 18 measures nearly the same width as the 130, this one appears to be 5 1/2" wide unmounted and obviously uninflated. I have a nice collection of swingarms but for now I'm planning to run a stock or stock +2" on this beast.  If a stock steel chain guard does not work, I'll modify a chrome aftermarket one or make it myself.

  My long range plan was a triple disc F2'nK2 with aluminum spoked rims and the stroker motor. Then I found the two drag bikes cheap. K1 and K2 both titled as 1972. Plans evolve.
 
   This K1 Hot Rod gets the 18x3" rear and 19" front Lesters with radial tubeless tires. The engine combo will either be its original motor with RC's 836/315 cam or my 836 KH/F cam engine. I'm hoping either the PO or myself can run it on the 1/2 mile or mile. I'll try some drag strip passes just to gauge the power.
   The turbo drag/show bike will happen when the Hot Rod feels finished.

  The Hot Rod K1 got temporary retirement today after the motor got tight coming off the 4 lane. After a 5 minute cool down, it rode home. The speedometer indicated 85 a minute before but it felt faster. I have 3 bikes to work on and sell first so I don't expect to make speed run on the new tires this summer.

  During the ride I was breaking in tires on some tight horseshoe/circle turns and went around quick enough to see my own oil smoke trail. It was blue, I was hoping it was black from fuel and a repair to the carbs would cure it.
  It was wishful thinking that a former drag bike with 1987 plates could simply be brought back to life. I did fix a transmission problem and was hoping that was why it was parked.

  I'll fix it for sure, just not right away. It still starts and runs so I'd guess the damage is piston/cylinder.
