'71 CB500 fuel line routing
« on: June 30, 2007, 03:29:36 PM »
I've got a project bike (my first) I picked up and the fuel lines were cut - how are they routed?  Photos would be great, otherwise, a good description should suffice.  Thanks!

Cut where?

There are two lines, one to each side of the carb bank.

If yours are cut after they feed through the hole on the carb rack, it's a simple run to the fuel tap.  If below, let me know and I'll post some pics (not tonite though - getting a bit late)

So it's just the two lines - are they paired up internally on a pair of carbs - sharing  a line?

There is a fuel "rail" that runs between the four carbs with two take offs, one between 1/2 and the other between 3/4. The two fuel lines connect there and run through a round hole in the frame (of the carb bodies) and up to the two outlets on the fuel tap.

I'll eventually return my setup to its proper state, but I just got the bike and I'm still tinkering, so I left the fuel lines long so I don't have to disconnect them to move the tank(In case you're wondering).

Awesome!  Thanks!  My fuel lines were cut off short and total about 4 inches long including the petcock.  I wondered if that clip was for the fuel line, but didn't want it getting in the way in case it wasn't.
