Purple vs. Green

Well, I stopped into one of my local Auto parts stores the other day to see about getting some SImple green. The guy said he didn't have any, but did have some stuff called "Purple Power" that would do the same stuff.

Here is a picture of the tarnished bowl, slider and top off of one of the K8 Carbs I am working on:

This is a pic of the bowl after a five minute soak:


And here is the aftermath with a little scrubbing with an old toothbrush:


I figure it's not too bad for $7 US for a gallon jug.

They look like my carbs did when I recued my 78 Supersport nice job on the slider and bowl. Be sure to check the accelerator pump diaphram for pin holes.

they sell this other stuff called carb cleaner  ;)

glad you found a working concoction... when i get to the 400f carbs... maybe i'll give it a try.

right now though, i'm gonna head out to the garage and dremel the combustion chambers, yay.

"Spray Nine" is some good stuff also but the trick is finding it. Here is a couple of pics of my carbs after I bead blasted the top covers and the bowls and polished the outside. Do you have access to a blaster? Some really fine glass beads are the bomb!
