Question, what's a wrinkle tank?
« on: January 10, 2008, 06:52:28 PM »
I've seen wrinkle tank mentioned here and there, is this a sandcast thing? How do you ID one? One more while I've got your attention. I've seen some "restored" 750s with the headlight ears, air box and headlight bucket painted the same color as the tank and side covers, is this original? TIA Jbird 8)

If you look in the filler cap of a wrinkle tank, you will see the metal in wrinkled. This is mainly in the area that goes over the top frame rail and was caused by the manufacturing process. I'm not sure as to the dates, but it happened from the first to probably late 1970. These early ones also had the headlight ears, headlight bucket & air filter box painted the same colour as the tank

It means to steal.....purloin = to steal - (comes from the 15th Century word "porloigner" = to put a distance from)

cheers
