Not sure about the 750, but on the 350F the underside piece with the seal "pops" off of the cap. There are four spring steel tabs that are triangle shaped that hold it on. Get a tool such as a dental pic (it's what I used) and begin to work the tabs up and it should come off.

Like I said, this is on my 350F I hope yours is the same.

BTW, I fiddled with the seal for an hour, trying to get it on leaving the cap in tact before I discovered that it came apart  ::)

YES I DO!

1st get a new seal. Then you will see how simple it is. The new rubber is very plyable, unlike the probbably old rotted one on your tank cap. Simply rip the old rubber off and slip the new one on.

Can someone help me understand what I am doing here?  I have a new seal.  How does the cap come apart?  Do you have any photos?

Here's how I did the seal on my 350F. Other petrol tank cap seals may be similar, I don't know. Both my 350F tanks have the same cap so I think all 350F's at least are the same.

First, Open the tank lid. If you look closely you will see four triangle shaped pieces hidden up under the cap (circled in the pic). These are the spring tabs which hold the cap parts together.

Next, locate a weapon like this one. You will need a sturdy little pic to dig out the four spring tabs.

Now, get diggin'  :)  If you get two of the four tabs out that are next to each other than the part should come out.

...And this is what the part looks like out

Now you can go ahead and install the new seal trouble free in the comfort of you recliner. Remember, when you take the old seal off and install the new one that all the "disks" go inside the new seal....you'll see what I mean when you get it off.

This is also a good opportunity to clear out the vent hole.

INSTALLATION:

All you do is press the part back in the same way it came out. I put mine back in, realigned with the old marks on the lid to make sure it went back in the same way it came out.

I didn't work that hard.  I just broke the many pieces of my old one out, lubed the new one up with some DC-4, and slid it on.

Thanks for the great advice.  Took my cap apart, soaked it in acetone, and removed a ton of old kreeme liner. Should vent a whole lot better now.

Thanks for the Info.
