Anybody Know Of An Ebay Seller Named: bartotti?
« on: March 22, 2009, 09:19:38 PM »

Doesn't want paypal, wants payment with  Visa/Mastercard and wants to be called by phone to be given the credit card number over the phone. Wouldn't mind having the CB77 cards for the parts, but......
....................sounds fishy to me! What about it, anybody know of or had any dealings with this one? ???

You probably have a better chance if something goes wrong - using the card instead of paypal.

paypal is like a hole that you throw money into and hope seller decides to throw something back your way.... at least with the card - if the goods don't show you call the bank and they charge it back NOW.

Happy trails.

If he is set up to do credit cards, they are watching him. If it is for a auction you have proof of what it is and what it was for.

I think I would do it if it is somthing you think is a good deal.

Well, looking at his feedback record, this is what I take from it... overall has decent feedback BUT... he has very strict rules on how he does business. Read ALL of the small print and understand what you are getting into ahead of time. He will not tolerate anything other than what he has stated. People leave him good feedback and he doesn't do the same. He gives a lot of bad feedback out. That is another good way to judge people. He has parts and at good prices but he is a total pr!ck to people who buy from him. Even those who paid within minutes. If they didn't leave him stellar feedback as soon as they got the package, he slammed them. Just beware. I don't like sellers like that. They know you need the part and they act like a$$es. It's up to you but I think when someone trusts you with their CC # over the phone, you should treat them better. jm2c. Good luck.

Btw, I don't have a business and can easily take your CC# and charge it. No one is watching over that stuff in ebay. They actually tell you not to trust that kind of dealer. VISA will give you your $$ back but they can't help you if your identity and credit are stolen.

I never do business with people on ebay unless they carry a 99% or better. The only time I broke that rule I was sorry, it was also the only time I have ever left negative feedback! But I agree with Mark credit cards are better than paypal.

Now guys, THIS is why I posted this. My first reaction was to forget it and then I got to thinking about it. He's got some Super Hawk "parts carbs" and I could use those parts but, I was skeptical.
Now that you mention it, I remember that ebay gets really specific about doing the business through them, for your protection. Besides, when I do business on ebay, I'm looking at getting the best deal I can, communicating effectively with the seller, getting good feedback from him and leaving good feedback with the seller. I've seen some who have had SOME problems on ebay and SOME who've had to call out the Bounty Hunter. :-\ I've done my best to avoid a bad situation on ebay AND, have succeeded, so far. ;) I think I'll pass, I don't need the hassle, I've got enough to hassle with (in the way of the S & S Team! ::)

                                Thanks all, Bill ;)

it's probably for the best. if he seems like a pain it the ass he probably is.

not because of the pay method, because of the attitude

You do right Bill - it has to be 99% or higher or your asking for bad service or worse still. Use the credit card if you do decide to do it - Paypal is convenient but having been on both ends of disputes in paypal, they do not make it easy to get your money back.

I just finished one dispute - some joker bought ebay stuff off me and then filed a claim saying his account had been misused even though he'd emailed me and left positive feedback to say how pleased he was. Paypal kept my £43 for two weeks and never replied once to my requests to know what was going on. With Visa, it's a simple phone call to resolve...
