Dyno figures for a 550
« on: May 20, 2009, 05:00:23 AM »
Just curious  to what other people have got figure wise for there 550, my 550 on the dyno today maxed out at 40 hp with 26.85 torque.

The first run it had 34.04 hp and 24.96 torque, then after carb sync and jetting it produced 40 hp.

Its a 550f with custom exhaust and adjustable velocity stacks it also makes it best HP at 8200 rpms.

Does anybody have any figures to compare this to out of curiosity.

I think most stock 550's were dynoed somewhere between 35 and 38rwhp, depending on the dyno and the bike, of course. I seem to remember Paulages had a number stated in one of his threads, too.
No.

I remember reading that psykod, a member here, ran his stock 550F before some planned engine mods to have a comparison. He ended up with 36.8hp & 26ft/lbs. Seems like you are right in the sweet spot.

I took note of this because I wanted a comparison against stock too. I did a couple runs after installing 61mm pistons, an aftermarket street cam as well as a few other "streetable" mods. Ended up @ 51rwhp with 33ft/lbs of torque.

Turboguzzi's early race bike (CB500) was producing 61.

I'm planning on some dyno runs after I get my 550 project done. I was hoping for maybe around 50, but might take a little work to get it there...

Wow that's impressive, to be honest i was a little disappointed

So now i will go the 750 pistons, 650 cam with head work and see what i can stretch this motor out to

Or you could go balls out like Paulages did. 70 rwhp before propper jetting and tuning.
