CB350f #3 carb leaking our of overflow
« on: September 20, 2009, 07:33:41 AM »
I've checked the float and it's good but it still drips out of the overflow tube on the bottom of the float bowl.  Is there another adjustment that I'm missing?  Bike runs like a top otherwise.  Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks a bunch.

Check that bowl's float needle and the seat itself. Particularly, look to see if it has little rings in the surface. It doesn't take much to allow fuel to seep by.

Could also be that the float level is too high, the float hinge isn't rotating smoothly on its hinge pin, or you have a small crack in the overflow standpipe.

I've also seen cracks or pinholes in the overflow tube itself, below the normal fuel line.

Yeah, I had leaking from my #2 carb, rebuilt the whole thing, put it back together and... still leaked. Check for small holes/cracks in the overflow tube. And to be safe you can always double check them with a compressor to make sure they're air tight. And if you find a hole/crack you can pretty easily fix them with epoxy/jb weld type stuff. Just make sure they are built to withstand gas, and let them cure long enough
