Just wondering if anyone else has tried to sell a bike on here and received dodgy emails?

I am receiving emails in very broken English, wanting me to send my bank account details and not wanting to call me to talk about the sale!
Here are some examples-

Hi,
I will like to know if this is still available, and i will like to know the last amount you can take. Because i am interested in buying.
Get back to me on my office email, so that we can discuss.

Hi Jack, I am open to offers above $7500, which will need to be be paid in cash on pick up, thanks.

Thanks for the mail, i want you to know that we will pay you using bank transfer or paypal, and you will not have to ship the item due to the fact that we have a private shipping agent that will come for the pick up of the item, so all we need from you is your bank name, account number, and the account holders name or your paypal email address, so that we can send payment, so get back to us as soon as you can.
I agree to the price.

Hi Mate, i am very happy to receive quick response on this bike. I am a public health worker  with WHO and we get transferred to a lot of places I am in a very remote area  in Ireland right now,.....I really fall in love with this bike, and would love to make a purchase of it at the rate of the said amount in my previous mail. pick up would be arranged by me.I will not be able to come for inspection,  all i need is your word that the bike, is as described online  if you are able to send one or two pictures, i will be very happy, sorry if i seem to be causing any inconveniences  .. I am not able to handle this myself, but i need to get the bike, asap, I would gladly like to make payment through PayPal but if you dont have an account it pretty easy to set up at www.pay pal.com and find more about them. .... I will be looking forward hearing from you again...Thanks

I would never deal with anyone that refused any of my conditions. If you are using Paypal then an honest buyer will deposit the money into your pay pal account,wait until it is cleared and you can get access to it then send the bike.....If you are in Australia you shouldn't have any trouble selling it locally....

thanks guys, I thought that bad feeling I had wasn't for no reason. Any idea who or where these emails are coming from and can they be stopped?!?!
I've taken my email address off the add, so i'll see how it goes now. If you know of anyone that wants this spectacular machine then let me know! I would also be interested in knowing what you guys think that something like this is worth, I know there are not many around like it in such great original condition.

Post a couple of pics on a thread with a nice catchy title and explain what you want for it etc. You never know you might get some bloke picking up on it. But I think your decision of sticking to a "cash for bike exchange" is a good strategy. Safest.
We've got all sorts of scams and shenanigans going on here in blighty, and you gotta really be careful who you speak to and who you pass your banking details on to. When in doubt, keep shtum.

umm?i dont think ireland has any "very remote" places,scams for sure,why not waste more of their time and send them bogus account details,tell em you have to fly to the moon and wont be back till you find out if its made of cheese or not.

Don,t go near it. Just delete everything, had same thing happen when trying to sell son,s bike on bikesales.com,did a check on guy on google and he had a bad history cheers Tony from Logan City

They are usually Nigerian scams, sometimes eastern European.
Lots of people still get caught with these scams...which is amazing, these days.

This is just another version of " can I send you a cheque for 10000$ could you please send me the refund of 5000$" etc etc ( eg if you were selling something for 5K).
