Old Bike needs new exhaust
« on: January 28, 2011, 07:44:24 PM »
Back to my rescent barn bike purchase 1974 CB750K. Some one in their ultimate wisdom whack the exhaust off with a hack saw. So now I need to make the decision for new exhaust. This bike will end up as a cafe racer and at least for the next year plus a stock motor & carbs.

So from the research that I have done it shows that 4 - 2 - 1 exhaust where cylinders 1&4 and 2&3 come together and then into 1. This combo gives the best all around performance. So with this said I am open to recommendations. Oh yea there is a $500 cap on this adventure.

I have been looking at the Cycle X 4-2-1 Race System, but would like realworld feedback.

If it makes a difference I live at about 6700 feet of elevation in Colorado. This bike will not be drive to the lowlands. Other considerations how do they fit up on the bike, can you change oil and oil filter easily, etc. Noise, must be barable at cruising speeds. When you crank on it I really don't care. Most likely I will be running some type of after market air filters or stacks. This most likey will be the single most expensive purchase to get it on the road this year, so I want to do this once.
Thanks for the help in advance
