These were very smooth working carbs until I did them in. Was sick of a pile of smart ass yamaha owners. I think I will shred all yamahas when they come in. I will in the future charge people to take them away. These owners are smart ass know it alls. I HATE YAMAHA OWNERS.

It's official...E.C. has lost his mind!  ;)

Dude...you should take some of the money that you'll make overcharging Yammy owners and see a Therapist....I'm thinking something along the lines of some anger management...

Anger management comes in the realm of a gun out in the open so I cant hurt someone  :P

I STILL HATE YAMAHA OWNERS AND THAT IS OFFICIAL, but the therapist could hook me up with killer drugs  :P

Thanks fer sharing, Cheapo ;D I usually just hurl the offending parts at the ground several times, but the pipe wrench looks sooooooooo much more satisfying.
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

OMG It is unbelievable how satisfying it is to smash it with a pipe wrench. I was looking for my 20LB sledge but could not find it.  ;) They might have been flat on the sledge run  8)

Let's see,
I have many Honda's but I also have 5-10 yamaha's
so does that make me half-arshed?

Just curious, but what triggered all of this????  ???

In general I find most (not all) Yamaha owners are mean, condecending, unruly, impatient, generally-unhappy, and last but not least smart ass know it all's. Just a pain in the ass. In the smart ass know it all thing I mean it is akin to a the fat flabby guy giving the Star Quarterback of a major team physical conditioning cues.  ::)

I figure if they are generally unhappy with the parts availability and the durability of thier brand they should find another brand to ride and maybe, just maybe they will be happier for it. Or maybe it is not the bikes fault at all. Certain types of people gravitate to certain brands of vehicle. Just look at the big 3 auto makers and the guys who own thier trucks. There are some similarities in thier owners.

ON THE OTHER EXTREME:
I met up with the "Backroads Honda Express Riders" yesterday. This is a group of retiries (ages 50+) that ride these old Honda Express's on the back roads all over our area. With that tiny moped (bike), 30-35 MPH, public courtesy, and general good attitude they have a ridership that is 200 riders. They ride in small packs so it makes it easy for other traffic to pass. If it appears that you are having trouble passing them they will do thier best to ease this. They were a funny bunch. They said the worst problem they have is running into each other during manuvers ;D. Now many of these guys ride bigger bikes, but they ride these in groups for commeradere and are glad to do so.

You meet the nicest people on a Honda......

No I am not going to go get a Honda Express  ;)

Honda owners (riders) are more like a Golden Retriever.....Oooo, shiny parts...my favorite. Oooo, semi-shiny parts...my favorite. Oooo, new parts...my favorite. Not that we are mindless "everything is my favorite", we are just usually NICE guys who want to ride. I think I will take a new view, if I am arguing with anyone...customer, my wife, fellow riders....then I need to ride more. Really when the hot syte fight comes along, if I go click off 100 miles things will be better.  ;D

That is the first time in probably 15 years I have totally lost it that way. Normally I just yell and swear  ;) It was therapeutic though. Not a whole lot can piss me off today, I used it all up already  :D

I'll have to add this video to the "A Day in the Life of...." thread when I get all the goods together.

The shop will be a reality in the next few weeks (FINALLY). Just got the house Re-Fied and have 20K to put in the biz.  ;D ;D

I revamped the video with music and included all the slams as well as the wife chime in.

Fitting music though, Pantera "Walk"  >:( ;D Fits the mood. I have sliced it all up and put it to the beat of Pantera "Domination", but man that is a lot of swinging  ;D. Would make anyone tired just watching it. LOL

I really don't care what this does for the public image of Anubis Cycle..... I wanted to come off as a take no prisoners kind of guy.. I think I did.. ::)

As I looked at the video closer there are sparks!! LIKE, DAMN COOL!!  ;D Wish we had a devil emoticicon, I think I would use it frequently.

Here is the NEW video special for the Home video  ;D

I think that would make me more likely to buy something from you! ;D  I've very nearly done the same thing to parts that I need for my bikes to actually run, so it's cathartic to at least watch somebody else doing it.  Sort of like that scene in "Office Space" where they take that fax machine out to a field and beat the living #$%* out of it gangsta style!

See what happens Tom ::)? I knew you should have gotten together with Dusterdude and made arrangements to come out here for the Northern California SOHC4 Meet and Greet 2006 ;) :D. Sure, it isn't until June 16th but the planning alone would have been calming. ;D And, to top it off, you would have been hanging out with a bunch of other cool Honda riders in the California Sun!!! What more could you ask for?

Brother I have had those moments with CV carbs....

Did the Carbs on my goldwing three times and this was after the shop did them twice and told me to never bring it back.

Course I kicked a hole thru the paneling of my shop wall putting the cylinders back on my 750 cases so it happens.

Good luck with your business.

Well Tom, I think it's good to be oneself and all that, but I think you should separate business and private life. We have talked about this before. I'm not the one that like to be flattered when I do business, but I don't like the kind of people that serve you like if they are doing you a favour. When I exchange my money for parts I want to get what I want. Wise advice from the salesperson is always appreciated, but I don't appreciate forgiving looks. I like the people that care about the customers regardless of the amount of money they make with them.

Normally I dont care how much money I make from any one particular sale or customer. But really, I am sure that if you came in to our shop with a pile of customers in, money or not and were rude, mean, condescending, and argumentive while I was trying to help you my customers would understand this reaction... I figure you almost always get back what you give. If you're and ass then chances are the guy will be an ass too.  ::) On occasion (rare), I am extra nice to a customer making sure they get thier parts ASAP and they still crap on me. Now those people seriously piss me off. I have learned that in any business there are always cutomers that are well...........less desireable no matter how many times they buy. They are just not worth the stress.

But why being rude with them? The best way to rule out customers is to charge them a lot. They will probably go somewhere else, and  if they don't, you feel better by ripping those #$%*s off. You will see they respect you more for your high prices than for your "take it or leave it" attitude.

I shopped around when I bought my GZ250 in 2000. The best deal was in a shop for an unused model from previous year, but I wanted the new model. It was exactly the same but the shade of green was different.

Well, I went back to where the new model was being sold. It is a huge shop, whose owner was famous years ago for racing off-road motorcycles. His bread-and-butter are expensive crotch rockets and cruisers, so a small commuter bike like mine was no big deal. So I told the guy: "Listen, I like this bike but I've found this price somewhere else. If you match it I'm putting the money down right now and you've got a deal" The guy looked at me with a hint of comptemt and with that "take it or leave it attitude" and told me about how small sales margin he had on cheap bikes and he couldn't make any discount. Probably he thought I was lying.

So I went back to the other shop and bought the bike, but still didn't have a helmet. A week later came to the same shop to look for a helmet. The guy ask me: "can I help you?" Yes -I replied-, I'm looking for an open-face helmet. I freaked out when the guy asked me: "so, you have a bike?" I couldn't imagine the guy would remember me. I said "I told you I had an offer but you didn't want to match the price". He retorted "How much?" I told him, though can''t remember now the exact figure. Final price was about 3 thousand dollar, and I was asking for something around 150 bucks rebate. The guy told me that he could have matched the price but I told him "Too late my friend". He later asked me about where but I told him I rather keep it to myself. I didn't buy the helmet either and have never returned, and feel real well that day.

Here is another option for you, Put up a big ol' sign that says, and you can quote this is you like,

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at anytime.
Bad or negative attitudes are not welcome here. If you have one, please leave now so we don't have to waste time by throwing you out!
Otherwise, Welcome to Anubis Cycles!

If they don't get the point from that, well maybe they do need a monkey wrench upside the head ;D.

Ok I agree with everyone I THINK???

I am never rude to my customers while they are one.....Yes attitude does change the price of parts  ;D I save the spout for after they leave. I generally laugh if they overpaid in attitude fees.

There is a hardware store in my town that have a sign that reads: "Its nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice". Problem is that neither the owner nor his wife are nice in my opinion, so I don't enjoy buying there and for that reason it's been a long time since they don't see my ugly face.

In this world where you can buy from almost anywhere in the world, I like to spend the money in places where the people makes you feel welcome. If they makes you feel like you could be annoying I rather go somewhere else. It's not my problem if they have had problems in the past with some customers. I don't like shop owners that makes you feel like if you are making them waste their time.

My apologies, I really should have elaborated on what I posted.

I am not a store owner, but I have been a loyal customer at several different shops. One of the shops I go to strictly because he does excellent work, but I don't hang out and talk much, just in and out. They shopkeeper there lets his customers walk all over him, whining and moaning and all that and he just sits there like a lump pretending to comisserate. If someone has a problem, whether or not it was his fault, they come to him demanding that he fix it right this time and this just makes my skin crawl. People treat him as an inferior, not me mind you because I see his true value for the work he does for me, and he just lets them do it. The sign in my previous post is almost verbatim of a sign in one of my favourite shops here, there is a bunch of guys there at any given time horsing and joking around, having a good ol' time. We all realise what the sign is actually doing, it is breaking the ice and letting us have some fun as well as getting the work done. It is a very good atmosphere to shop in. None of us take the sign as a literal threat, just as a coarse reminderthat we are coarse people and it lets us relax and enjoy the company. Several years ago, a new customer came in and took umbrage with the sign and complained to the owner, who took him aside and explained the concept behind the sign. Well, it worked so well, that customer is now a co-owner and happier than he has ever been.

Sometimes, oblique or dark humor can be utilised in ways that bring people closer together and everyone can relax and enjoy themselves.
