Handlebar Wiring Alternatives
« on: January 07, 2012, 05:16:24 AM »
74 550.  The wiring goes through the old handlebars.  I have seen others using the same type of bars that I bought and I am wondering how they handle this.  First of all the bend is pretty severe if I was going to use the OEM switches, plus drilling the hole right.  I suppose I could fish the wires through.

Should I be looking to buy aftermarket switches?  If so, what would be a good alternative?  Or am I worried about a problem that is not a problem?

Some days the sun is too loud.

People have done it with clubmans with the wires inside, notched the housing and run the wire outside, used electrics from other bikes and used aftermarket units.  Do search and find all the ways it was done.  I have done it on the inside and used aftermarket units, choose what ever works for you.  Check for clearance between the master cylinder and your switches.  I like having my levers adjustable to suit me.  Don't like  them pinned to the bar.
Braided brake lines = GOOD!
