If someone from this forum gets this setup, I'll offer $150 plus shipping for the drag pipes. Mine are so rusted I don't think they'll clean up much.

I've got too many CB750's now, but I wouldn't mind one of his Triumph Bonny's, with a little tweaking, they are a neat ol' bike, for sure, Pity it's local pickup only, for those prices, even with shipping to Oz they'd be cheap! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

...Ok, lets play "The Price is Right".  Showcase showdown rules, so you must be the closest to the actually high bid without going over.

OK Bob...I'm gonna say.. (I'm looking into the crowd as people yell bids)...

... $3125

I say we get the SOHC board to pony up a free shirt for the winner!

... $3125

I hope your kidding, Two titled sandcasts? plus everything else for 3125? Sounds low to me. I'd be surprised if the lot went for less than $4800.

you gotta be psychic Joe, I was thinking about wrapping the pipes the other day but after considerable internal debate I have to admit that I find wrapped pipes to look unfinished and overall detracting from my style. I have never been much of a fan of flat black or wraps, I like some shine on things, yeah, it's more work keeping clean, but to my eye it looks exactly that, clean. I am picking up a rotary tool tomorrow and starting the polish process on the engine cases, they are wrinkle black now and I want to see if they'll polish up well. I should have the condenser today or tomorrow and can't wait to hit the roads again.

I say it will be $1 over any bid I tell you guys  ;D LOL

If I can convince the wife, these parts will be offered here first. If she see interest from you guys, she will be more receptive. It would be nice to know that $400-$500 of the parts will already be accounted for. After all then we can go around those nasty evil bay fees  ;D.

If there is a right hand control in the mess that matches up for my bike, it wont be going anywhere. Just had a throttle cable snap last night (snapped at control end) and had to do the high idle trick to get her home over 20 miles! Got it fixed now but there was a microscopic short in my kill switch that I did not see. Put the mess back together and nearly had a FIRE  :o I hate fires.

With all the titles in this mess, it looks like a killer chance to build some 750 Cafes and leave the old K5 alone. ;D

The way it was put to me was that about midway through the 1970 year production run, they finished tooling up and went to the diecast stuff on the later models of that year and in 1971 went all diecast.  That is why I wrote that. If I am wrong, and I may well be, please correct me as to the actual and precise range for the term. I'll be the first to admit an error, but I work like a mule to get things set to rights when I am wrong.

Tom, show this to your wife if it'll help,

Dear Mrs. ElCheapo,

I have given Mr. ElCheapo a pledge of $150.00 plus shipping for the set of exhaust pipes in the aforementioned auction. My pledge to him is also a pledge to you.

Thank you for your time,

Jeff

...hmm, now that you mention that dusthawk, thats sounds familiar.  i was thinking it was halfway throught 69 they stopped the sandcast, but halfway through 1970 sounds right.  either way with regard to the auction the seller is selling himself short by not mentioning wether they are sandcast or not.  the fact that hes not makes me think that maybe they are later year 1970's models, and not sandcast...

Junkie,

My offer for the pipes still stands. That is if you get them and if you want to sell them.

The "Sandcast" run of the K0 started and finished in 1969, (someone here will chip in with engine numbers etc) and the diecast model run went into 1970. In 1971 the K1 was released, then in the US, every year saw a new "K" designation, up to the K8 in 1978.

In Britain, Europe and Australia, we just got the K0, K1, K2 (1972 to 1975) K6 and K7. You'd have to check your engine numbers Dusty, but if yours is a 1971 model, it's more likely a K1 than a K0. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Sandcast?  ??? I guess I missed that part...and got all confused. Most of us asume sandcasts are simply K0's, but it a little more complicated than that.

Nonetheless it would be a great score.

I had the cash in hand to make a big purchase.................. ::)

Damn how these things go... When I have no money the keep coming, when I have money they run away... ???

I am looking at a very nice 76 750 F that needs carbs cleaned... Otherwise very nice. for about $600. Not bad but not worth bragging on. Also a Late model YZ frame with a very nasty DT 400 motor in it. Should prove to be very interesting.

(Is jibber a word? Well, Terry will know what it means I know he's said it before, along with wanker....)

Here you go mate, I don't remember using the term "jibber", but of course "wanker" is a commonly used term here, particularly when describing some of our technically ignorant, but nevertheless overly "verbose" members, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D
