Topic: Anyone know where to get a "Gordon" style frame kit?

Taken the motor out of my K8 twice now, looking for a "Gordon Frame Kit" besides carpy's. Can someone point me in the right direction.

Those are slightly different than the Gordons kit, they don't use the screw in front part that allows the use of the stock key bracket but really, anyone that can weld these in can make a bracket that would look original. The bolt-in bars that tie the triangle back together is easy to make too.

Hi Don, all - I think it's flattering that they have decided to produce them, but as you said - I do not believe you can mount them far enough forward to get the clearance needed to remove the cylinder head. Has anyone here tried them? I had to come up with that "blind thread" system to give the clearance needed for the Head's finned area. I am concerned that even if these are put way up front. there might still be a clearance issue. I had folks welding in the blind threaded insert 2" from the downtubes - both hiding the repair and giving the option of using the stock location for the ignition switch where it's protected from the rain and elements (most of the time). It was also the limit of rearward protrusion I could tolerate and have removal access for the head. This looks like it would be exceeded. Again. I am just concerned.

I think they should add those 1/4" x 1" x 2" long straps for the triangulation bracing too. That was important to me since I am 240 lbs and like to ride the mountains. That's a lot of bike and power trying to twist that steering head in two pieces.

Ryan, sorry I have retired. Actually my machinist friend who was in his late 60's when I made the nearly 100 sets 5 years ago has retired. I was happy to offer them at cost to keep him busy and to supplement his income. Now that he is no longer working in his shop, I don't have any incentive to do them.

As for clearance, absolutely. If done to the instructions you would have no problem getting the section out and the head off in less than 30 minutes. I've done it as have dozens of others who have the kits.

Sorry to decline, but I did these for the community and a wonderful old fella that only rabbit hunts now days.

Shame you aren't making the kits Gordon. I bought one from you a while ago and just installed them. Found a great welder who did a bang up job of making the welds look pretty too. Very happy with it.

I at one time put out a price of I think 200 + shipping, but the other guy found someone cheaper than that which may be part of the problem.. after a while they may not be able to suppply at a lower price.
 So if the other guy is out , I  am interested....

I read the thread and there was a lot of interested parties, so I thought I would give everybody on the thread a shot at it.  Dyrden was the one who responded first.  In retrospect, maybe I should have given RpBet the first shot at it since he did start the thread.  I wasn't sure if I wanted to let it go, so agreeing to a sale at that instant helped convince me to sell.  I have entered into an agreement with Dyrden, so to back out now would be a d!ck move and I suppose so was selling to another guy who didn't start the thread. At this point, I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't.  I have a good reputation as a seller here and don't want to compromise it.  I wasn't trying to screw anybody and I truly believe neither was Dyrden.  He complied with the deal as I worded it in the thread, so I will take the blame for all of this.  I am sincerely sorry to all involved who feel they were wronged.

Really Kev i don't think you have done anything wrong, Dryden should know better, that was the wrong thing to do, it wasn't his place to do what he did......
