Powder coating wheel hubs with bearings installed?
« on: March 14, 2019, 02:57:39 AM »
I recently saw a build where the bearings were installed in the wheels before powder coat. I always thought that the oven got too hot for rubber, plastic, etc.
Can you powder coat hubs with the bearings in place?

Bad idea. Maybe old dry bearings to keep coating out of the bores, but not with bearings to leave in and use.

Well, that's what I thought. This guy has a nice build going on,  but the bearings in before coating threw me.

Of course. I've actually had a set of mag wheels powder coated before but they were bare. That's why I was wondering how this guy was doing it with the bearings installed.
