Looking to get a set of valve seals that dont leak, even if they rob a few hp? What have you guys had good luck with?

OEM or Viton should be fine. It shouldn't be an issue. If OEM seals are leaking they are either old and hard, or the guides are worn and the valve stem is rattiling around in the guide and causing the seal to leak.

New ones.   :D  But seriously, if you're concerned about the potential friction they may add, the earlier heads didn't have seals on the exhaust side, intake only..

So, we have the issue of the guides themselves. Any idea if they were worn on the 550, and the 750?

Guides were good on the 550, measured and lapped the valves. no play in the guide. I question the retaining circlips where it seals onto the guide. The 750 k4 head had broken fins, i bought a 77k head and I'm replacing all of the intake guides and valves. That's why i want good seals.

Interesting. nevertheless, I'd say OEMs should be fine. The VITONS are available on eBay and from some sellers. But most engine builders just use OEM I think.

Do a search on VITON to read up on them and decide. I went with the VITONS but I'm not running yet, so no comment.

Could be real, or hype. You decide. Also, maybe ask Mike Rieck.
