Got my Wing last night!
« on: March 16, 2012, 11:14:52 AM »
Here is the new "Touring bike". When I need to Zoom the CB is just waiting for me.  ;)
Details: 1998 GoldWing SE with 28,018 miles on her. Bought it from Southside Honda in Lafayette, LA. With nice dealer to work with. Very straight up with the bikes details, no surprises. This was my first "Big" internet purchase, like a vehicle. Dealer laughed and told me 75% of his sales now done thru the Web.

It is nice to have a big bike like that for trips and a much smaller one for around town.  Those biggun's can get to be too big for city driving.

Nice bike fer sure!
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

At a light, they fell like that when they are slowly falling over.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. The wife and I rode the Wing for a bit today. The Wings really do have a good low center of gravity. The motor is way down low and over all it is really a very balanced machine. We get home, I look over at the K3 just sitting there in the garage. So I take it out by myself for a "spirited" ride. Man what a difference these bikes have. I felt like the K3 was a sport bike. It was light, fast and loud. And to be quite frank stopped like a 73 model. But they rtoo different animals. So I feel very lucky to have these two bikes in the garage.  8)

I hear you regarding comparison of your K3 to the Wing. I enjoy riding the CB's so much the only time I get the Wing out is to ride with my wife or in winter. In fact, my wife does not ride on my CB's as I don't want her to smash my duckbill seat on the KO... ;D...just kidding dear... :D

Just in case you drop it on it's side, this may help. I don't know if your crash guards are then same as the GL1800's so check before practicing this. Please don't ask why I know this.  :-[

Good refresher...did practice that manuver twice. Once in the driveway when it came off the side stand and once in a cemetery. The people in the cemetery were to "laid back" to help me ;D At least it was on soft grass. Never had any damage, but those are monsters if you try to pick them up the wrong way.

And, tell any bystanders that you can do it by yourself. Helpful hands on all the expensive plastic can cost a lot of money. If it does go over on you, you will be a member of a not so exclusive club, it's quite common apparantly. Once my 1800 decides to go over there's not much I can do. happy riding. it's a great bike.
