Caliper adjustment cb650
« on: March 17, 2012, 04:43:42 PM »
Anyone know how to adjust the distance between the disc and brake pad on a 1982 cb650? mine seems to be just touching it and according to the manual it needs .7" of clearance minimum. Thanks!

I don't know about the 81, but my 79 650 has no adjustment, they auto-adjust as they wear.

There is no adjustment. A light kiss of the new  pads on the disc is harmless and will decrease with mileage. As long as you can free-spin the wheel (while experiencing  minimal friction drag) all is fine. If you do experience a lot of drag and the pads are installed correctly, the likely cause would be the caliper piston failing to fully retract (usually because of pitting and rust on the piston and cylinder).
