cb 550 sucks.

my cb 550 sucks... the choke closed at half throttle.... ;D    I dont see any missing parts/spring compared to the exploded parts diagram. Is there a friction
adjustment somewheres I am missing??...anyone....

What year?...my '75 choke is integral to the carb.  Later models have a cable up to the bars. I suppose it might make a difference.

I suppose I should have mentioned the carbs are off of a 71'  500, all manual, "OLD SKOOL"  to use the parlence of our times.

Huh? You mean you were riding it and at half throttle, the choke activated itself?

If I'm reading you correctly, your choke is loose and gets sucked into a closed position under speed?

I just took a real quick look at mine.  There's a spring-tensioner of sorts visible on both of the inboard carbs (#'s 2 & 3) that seems like it would impose a lateral load on the choke shaft, in effect 'tightening' it by trying to 'pull' the shaft out of the body.  I didn't look too hard to see if there's one on the backside of the outboard carb choke shafts.  The choke actuator - the little handle thingy - is riveted onto the shaft, so there has to be something on the backside to allow for dissassembly.  Maybe that can be tightened.
