I don't know what it is about these old Hondas...As soon as someone finds out you have one, they ask "You want another???"...

Last night I became the reluctant owner of a 1974 CB550 w/engine & frame & back wheel and not much else...The clutch cable was jammed in the out-of-engagement position, motor wouldn't turn over, it looks like the arm on the case had been forced too far...while getting the cable off, I managed to get it one "notch" further...now it's in a peculiar position relative to where it should be...if you can imagine 9:00 o'clock as being the correct position, it's at 6:00 o'clock now...
It seems almost like a ratcheting mechanism, not that it's supposed to be, but it only rotates one direction...and the case is in the way now...so I can't force it to the correct position...
I'm sure I'll have to remove that case [right side, where kicker is] and re-position the arm...
Just curious if anyone else has had this happen...
BTW: The motor turns over very nicely now...

I pulled the entire engine out of the frame...
