new pods on the 77
« on: August 17, 2012, 11:31:01 AM »
Just put cycle x pods on the 77K. 40 slows, second notch from the bottom on the needle and 130 mains. The 130s are just a little steep but mine seems to like high rpm operation so a little extra fuel don't hurt ;) runs like a champ, with noticeable power gain, not huge but noticeable. Did a lot of reading on here before I pulled the trigger, thanks guys! You know who you are :D

Cool I have a 74, so different carbs, but thinking about a similar setup. You think 125's would have been a good choice too? What exhaust you have?

That slide needle is 2nd notch from the top I hope, not from the bottom!

The 1974 carb is completely different and we would need to know what number of carb you have before we could make any kind of comment.
The 125 main would be ok.

Nope, second notch from the bottom. I first started second from the top, but as soon as I went over 1/4 throttle it would flatten out bad. Jumped up 2 notches, there's a little fart on snap throttle but under load it just goes, and the front wheel seems a little lighter than before. Runnin 4 into 1 kerker btw

Well that is very interesting indeed!
You raised the needle 3 notches WOW. Very good.
I also raised the needle .054 thousandths on my 1978 and got some good results too.
That is nearly the same but with shims instead of the clip.

Keep an eye on those plugs.

Did you see my video ?

A quick question along the same line of this subject, if anyone could help answer.

I have '76 carbs that I put on a '77 cb750, I've switched out my main jets to 120, installed pod filters, and a 4-1, and have the set screw at 1.5 turn out. The bike runs good, but still sputters, almost as if too rich and even seems to bog down at high rpms after a few miles of constant riding.  Do I need to switch out the idle jet, and what is the MPG's I should be getting for this set up?

Thanks
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy

Need to tell us where the slide needle is positioned and what size the idle jet is.

Also what number is on those carbs???

The #120 main jets are stock size. It could be running extremely lean.
Better take a look at your spark plugs before you seize the engine.

Why don't you start a new thread and name it 77 CB750 with 76 carbs.

I'm assuming the idle jet is the stock size for the '76, but I'll check both the slide and idle tonight.

Don't think I seen the video. An I haven't gotten to ride a lot because along with the jetting and pods, I did the roller neck bearings and fork seals an I can't get the front end to straighten out. The triple trees are pointing different directions
