(although a side note* when I opened up the housing there was an extra wite not connected to anything that was taped at the end, Red strip on Black. I looked at the wiring diagram and couldnt' figure it out.)

That is the same as my starter switch (76 CB750K)
Originally the black/red stripe wire went to the 7amp headlight fuse and then to the headlight
The black wire should be the 12V power wire
The yellow/red wire goes to the starter solenoid.
TheĀ  green/red wire on the other terminal of the solenoid goes to the Clutch and Neutral switches.

If the black/red wire is not connected and the headlight works ok, then someone (usually the elusive PO) changed the wiring before you got the bike.

Good Luck - tom

Newbie: Looks like you have the part numbers. They are about $3 each. Be sure you get the spring. I didn't. Didn't realize the old one was gone until I had it apart. Had to shorten a horn button spring. Not worth the hassle. You will have to take the throttle cables off the carbs and remove the throttle grip. Took about an hour and a half to do the whole thing. Not hard, just tedious.
