Where can I buy Candy Gold paint?
« on: June 08, 2012, 03:25:00 PM »
Just wondering where I can buy paint as close as I can get to the original Candy Gold. Also, I am thinking about puting the decals on the tank that were made for the 1971 era CB750. Would these decals fit on a 1976 CB550? I did some photoshop work and here is what I am going for. I kind of like the yellow & black decal better than just the black. Also, I plan on keeping my side covers black and put a 550 sticker on them.

House of Kolor wll most likely have a shade of Kandy gold to suit mate. The 750 decals will probably work, but you can just as easily mask up your tank and pant some stripes on it? Your sidecovers would look better gold, and the font on the 550 badges is way too big, IMHO. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Try this. Used hid kit several years ago for my K0. Great finish.. in part because I had a pro do the work.  ;)

In Australia the side covers would look better in Gold. In Iowa, they look better in black. ;D Of course the "550" is just there to get a visual. Cheers!

Ha ha, you're probably right, it's that whole Bart Simpson toilet flushing thing I guess? I tell you what though, that gold is really striking, I compare that pic to your avatar pic and it really brightens up your bike! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Keep in mind if you try the vintagehondapaint route the guy is not real fast on getting back to you. I would take a sample to House of Kolor and have them match it. You will be far ahead going that route. I did that with my candy gold and am very glad I did.

I don't mind the side covers the same color. But when they are black, it reminds me of the old Triumphs like this.

The bigger body shops and paint suppliers have a color gun that reads the color and tells them how to make it. Of Course that would only work if you had a sample of it to work with.
