AHHHHHHhh, well its official I hate dealing with gas tanks. I hate liners, rust, and leaking tanks.

When I acquired my bike it had a failing Kreem liner with rust through to the paint. So I lined it with POR-15, which is now peeling. OK get a "new" tank that seems decent on the inside, I dont wanna deal with liners anymore. Electrolysis followed up with diluted works and ATF. Awesome, all looks good until I put gas in it. It has a small pin hole leak >:(!

What the hell do I have to do to get a decent tank!

Sorry woke up to this:

and now this:

I have become a Red Kote believer.

Much more viscous than the products you mentioned, available at auto parts stores.

All the best,

The local bike shop coats tanks with caswell and has good things to say about it. Ive heard that red kote is the way to go if you dont mind your tank looking like a goat was slaughtered in there. At this point I dont care, I just want to ride this summer

Almost looks a bit more than a pin hole. I would think you should be able to braze it.

LOL!

I thought that was a selling point...

I tried to get good picture of it, its bigger in the picture. It's probably 1/4 the size of what's shown in the first pic. I think its just glare. Can't even see it unless you hold it up to light.

the caswell gas tank repair epoxy is amazing. it bridged holes in my tank that were way bigger than that. just make sure you use 3/4 of the kit, not the 1/2 the instructions tell you to.

rinse that tank with water a few times.  Use a bbq long lighter to test and or 'pop' any pockets of fumes. bare the accessible side, rough it up real good. Apply flux to the damaged bare area. Take the propane torch to it, and flow in 60/40 thin rosin core electrical solder. You wont need as much heat as brazing, and it works fantastic.
Liners, even the good ones, are for quitters.

Sounds good!

Yeah in this pic:

The mechanic didnt tighten down the crankshaft pulley bolt to the 181 ft lbs and the pulley came loose. Got it back together but hes out until the 9th. Drove to work today without an alternator or power steering. Oh and the kid is due any day now.  ;D

must not have far to go for work if you made it on just a battery.  what kind of Honda (car) do you have?  just curious.

95 Accord with 194,000 miles. Nah its a 12 minute drive. Half way there the battery light kicked on and power steering died.
