coming back from the garage where i am fixing a leaky fork seal on my Gpz racer....

having the front wheel in hand.... why not weight it?

so then: stock cast gpz 18" rim, 110/80-18" AM22 race tire running tubeless, two 300m discs and the axle

all together 11kg / 22 lbs. how does it sound compared to....whatever you got out there?

just wondering if its a reasonable figure or if i'd be better off running  cast lead one instead

Can't seem to remember the numbers, have to re-weigh or look for the #'s, but turned down a oem fronthub, laced a aluminium rim to it, weighed it and it was 2kgs heavier than my SMAC cast aluminium wheel. Suprised me since I also was under the assumption that the spoked version would be lighter...........

That sounds pretty light to me TG! The 300mm, 5mm thick Yamaha discs I'm using weigh 2.011kg each, and the Morris wheel with bearing hubs and bolts, no axle, no tire, is about 6 kg..

when i first looked at this wheel it seemed chunky to me, used it because the size was ok for the tire and.... it simply came with the bike. then i noticed the 83' wheels were pretty smart with a hollowed out, see through, hub area and the discs dont need carriers or long bolts.  bet the rear is fairly overweight for racing due to the huge cush drive, total overkill

not that surprised that laced are not lighter: steel spokes, big discs carriers to connect to the hub.... my akront rimed front is firmly connected to the 500/4 right now and i never weighted it, so it got me wondering

both wheels tubeless, with bearings, without axle:
honda racer Marvic magnesium 2.50x18, BT45 110/80x18, 2x310mm discs: 11.5kg
guzzi racer EPM magnesium 2.50x18, BT45 100/90x18, 2x300mm discs: 11.5kg

Just picked up my CB500 Lesters at the post office a couple of days ago. There was a scale right there so I gave them a go.

Front wheel, bearings,spacers, nothing else:
5.64 kg

Rear wheel, bearings,spacers, sprocket:
9.39

Yeah the discs will be the heavier stock ones for now. Looking into those Suzuki ones for this winter.

Not to highjack the thread but what is the consenses on going tubeless with the Lesters?
