Nice video! Thanks.

Did you apply anti-sieze paste on the threads of the stainless steel screws? It needs the silver anti-sieze paste to lessen or prevent dis-similiar metal electrolysis with the aluminum.
David- back in the desert SW!

There's not supposed to be sound.. I guess I was thinking people just wanted to read the narratives instead.... oh and yes you should use an antiseize on the bolts but some people don't use it so I didn't want to show it in the video

Just finished rebuild using the video series, thanks!

BUT, I double checked the book and it looks like I forgot to install the two dowels between the cylinder and the head.  These are the two non-tapered pins, not the tapered oil pins at the bottom.

I went back to the video, and I am 99% sure you didn't install them in your rebuild either.  They are not visible when you put the head on. (I really hope they were not slipped on off camera - too cruel).

Please someone tell me these two parts are not critical? (As if anything in the engine is just 'extra')

Hopeless post, but worth a shot before I tear it back apart.

Jlovvorn- i am not sure what dowels you are talking about... correct me if im wrong, but i think you mean the 2 dowels that are used to guide and center the the head with the cylinder?.. can you take a picture and post it?

the ones between the head and cylinder are hollow and slip over the studs, these are called ferrules, the rocker cover ones are solid and are dowells.
